Could this be the return of the pigeon shooter to Saint-Saëns (Seine-Maritime)?

Helpless face to the number of pigeons that have taken up residence in the heart of the town center of Saint-Saëns in Seine-Maritimethe municipal council validated the request of Mayor Karine Hunkeler to file a municipal decree to shoot pigeons.

“Abortive seeds are too expensive, especially given the number of pigeons present, the same for the dovecotes,” declared Karine Hunkeler during the municipal council.

Long-time pests

It has been several years sinceThe municipality is looking for a solution to reduce the number of pigeons who have taken up residence in the commune.

In order to “reduce the number of current pigeons and avoid accidents linked to droppings”, the municipality wishes to call on a shooter, for the second time.

“Everything will obviously be done in a very supervised manner, but if this can reduce, for a time, the number of pigeons, that would be a small step forward,” declared the mayor.

A falconer had been hired to reduce the number of birds and therefore related nuisances.

It had also been considered to install dovecotes, or to use abortive seeds but their costs are too high.

Some residents have even started to act on their own to limit the nuisance linked to the presence of birds, like Alain Barra who had all the gutters in his building cleaned and spikes installed so that the pigeons do not fly. 'ask more. What perhaps inspired the municipality? To be continued…
