Faced with an influx of patients due to flu, Covid epidemic peak and other seasonal viruses, hospitals in are under pressure. According to La Provence, since Friday January 3, 2025, health establishments from , -Lauris et were forced to trigger their “white plans”an emergency device to deal with the saturation of hospital services.

Difficulties piling up

Pierre Pinzelli, director of the three hospitals, explains to our colleagues that the situation is exacerbated by a insufficient vaccination coveragedifficulties in accessing city care during the holidays and the closure of beds in certain private establishments.

Faced with this influx of patients, additional beds were opened and healthcare teams were reinforced.

New measures applied

Emergency measures follow one another: limitation of visits, compulsory wearing of masks inside rooms and systematic use of hydroalcoholic gel. The objective is to protect both the vulnerable patients and caregiverswhose exhaustion is palpable. The saturation of services also leads to longer waiting times in emergency rooms.

Hospital authorities are calling on users to be patient and to remain courteous in these moments of crisis, knowing that this high tension also has an impact on patients who go to the emergency room.
