The seven members of the gang were tried before the Pikine-Guédiawaye court ten days after the accident which caused the death of the young 19-year-old mechanic on the VDN3. Ismaila Camara, considered the leader of the group, tried to defend himself against serious charges: involuntary manslaughter, driving under the influence of drugs and possession of drugs. Visibly disturbed, he admitted to having rented the vehicle and invited his friends to get in, but denied having consumed illicit substances at the time of the events.

However, the results of the investigation revealed a very different reality, reports Dakaractu. Analyzes of Ismaila Camara’s urine samples, as well as those of Amady Ba and Issa Mballo, confirmed the presence of benzodiazepines and ecstasy, which contradicts the statements of the accused.

The three young women present in the vehicle, on the other hand, were exonerated. The prosecutor requested their release, emphasizing their small role in the events.

According to The Observerthe representative of the public prosecutor requested a sentence of five years in prison and a fine of 500,000 FCFA against Ismaila Camara. For his male accomplices – Amady Ba, Issa Mballo and Souleymane Kane – he requested a sentence of six months in prison, as well as an equivalent fine, for complicity in manslaughter, possession and use of drugs. The court set the decision for January 10.

On December 27, Mamadou Konté, a 19-year-old mechanic nicknamed “Papa,” tragically lost his life after being run over by a vehicle driven by Ismaila Camara.
