Eric Devannes, a 43-year-old runner from Alençon (Orne), has his own way of marking major events. For a race, Sunday January 5, he imagined a journey to celebrate the arrival of 2025 : a 14 km loop drawing “2025” in the streets of the City of Dukes.
Happy New Year 2025
Every year, Eric Devannes offers around ten lines to the Alençon court Facebook group of which he is an active member. And they are original to say the least. “For April 1st, I have already imagined a fish.”
How does he do it? » I have fun with the geographical maps of the city. To imagine this type of route, I use l’application Footpath which allows me to draw them following the streets. »
For the athlete, this type of route is simpler to achieve in big cities. “In Alençon, it's a bit complicated” but it's always simpler than in the countryside where the number of streets is necessarily lacking.
Another complication: ensuring that the departure is also the arrival. “There I had to mark 2025 to return to V and B in Condé-sur-Sarthe where we had left. »
Why January 5?
If Eric Devannes decided to organize the race on Sunday January 5, it is not by chance. “Sunday attracts more people and then on January 1st, we might not have been able to », he laughs. No question of having a hangover!
THE seize participantswere already aware of the shape of the course and the 14 km that awaited them on Sunday morning.
Never the same route
For 25 years, this racing enthusiast has imagined all different routes. “I hate running the same course!” » For 2025, he was not inspired by the one he had produced in 2022 or 2023. Always with a view to renewal he does not know if he will offer a similar one in 2026. “Maybe I will imagine a Christmas treebut if I have to do one in 2026, it will surely be different from this year's. »
