The week will start under the sun in the center and west of the province, but the weather will be very cold, while eastern Quebec will have to expect a few showers of rain or snow.
The week will start off right on Monday in the greater Montreal area, where Environment Canada is forecasting a generally sunny day, which could still send Montrealers shivering with a maximum of -11°C, accompanied by a wind chill of -24 in the morning.
Intermittent light snow is expected to arrive in the area overnight between Monday and Tuesday.
Same story in the Laurentians, in Lanaudière, in the Capitale-Nationale, in Drummondville and in Mauricie, while the federal agency nevertheless warns of a “risk of frostbite” in several of these regions.
In Estrie, Environment Canada describes instead an alternation of sun and clouds for the day, with a maximum of -14°C, coupled with a wind chill of -28 in the morning, and -20 in the afternoon.
For its part, eastern Quebec will experience various precipitations, starting with snow showers and blowing snow under the clouds, notably in Rimouski, Matane and Sainte-Anne-des-Monts.
But the temperatures will be much less biting with a maximum of -1 to -3°C forecast, which will translate into a feeling of -13 to -16 in the morning.
In Trois-Pistoles, Rivière-du-Loup and Témiscouata, the federal agency forecasts a 40% chance of snow showers with temperatures of -8°C, accompanied by a wind chill of -23.
In Minganie, Natashquan and Chevery, the snow could change to rain during the day, while temperatures stabilize around 2°C.
At the same time, an alert for “dangerous winter conditions” was issued in the Îles-de-la-Madeleine sector, where an episode of snow and strong winds producing blowing snow should reduce visibility in the morning, before ease during the afternoon.
