This was news awaited by more than 6,000 patients who find themselves without a treating doctor in Saint-Maixentais: “To provide a local response to these patients after the retirement of several general practitioners, the professionals of the Multiprofessional Health Center (MSP) have imagined and built a service providing access to unscheduled care, within the “Saint-Maixent-l’École hospital, with retired and independent general practitioners”explained Mayor Stéphane Baudry and Marie-Hélène Rossi-Daude, first deputy in charge of the health file. This center opens Monday January 6, 2025.
The project was successfully completed “in connection with the town hall, the hospital, the Regional Health Agency (ARS), the Primary Health Insurance Fund and the territorial professional health community”.
Slots open several days a week
While waiting for new doctors to be installed, slots will be open several days a week to receive patients without a treating doctor. “Appointments can be made mainly by calling 15 or via MSP health professionals,” specify the elected officials.
In recent months, the community has therefore mobilized health professionals, the coordinator of the local health contract, the president of the territorial professional health community, representatives of the ARS, the CPAM and the council of the Order of Physicians. to think about the structuring of this reception for medical consultations in the context of unscheduled care.
“We hope that other professionals will come”
“This structure backed by an MSP is an innovative solution in France in its setup. The project was presented to the Minister of Health during the congress of mayors. The Saint-Maixent hospital and the territorial professional health community participate in logistical service support. Two doctors will receive the patients. »
This is Doctor Jean-François Favriou, retired doctor (two days a week), who started in 1976 and worked in emergency hospitals. Doctor Naime Bana, who will be on 450 slots, will receive patients while continuing his assistance in the medical office with Doctor Poupot.
In April, Dr Jean-François Palluel will retire and will strengthen the team. “These doctors will be on paid vacation and all outside doctors who want to practice can do so.specifies the mayor. They will be increased by the CPAM. It is a response that must grow over time to respond to our fellow citizens. Doctors can practice as long as they want per half day or more. We hope more will come. »
The health center under construction
Émilie Brière is the coordinator of the future Saint-Maixent and Sauzé-Vaussais health center. In addition, a medical secretary will soon be recruited. For Stéphane Baudry, “the objective is to have a healthcare response while waiting for everything to be structured around the health center”.
Work is underway, with the rehabilitation of the Varaize building. Steps have been taken such as the creation of an interprofessional ambulatory care company, bringing together 35 health professionals, the creation of the reception center for interns and caregivers, the reception of interns or medical assistants by the health professionals, and the arrival of cardiologist Feriel Baraket in 2024. Tax advantages will also be granted to health professionals who set up.
How to make an appointment?
> The care center is located on the premises of the Saint-Maixent-l'École hospital, on level 2 (signs will be in place).
> Consultations are provided by doctors in private practice, replacements or retired. A schedule is established based on their availability.
> Patients will be able to make an appointment and register for available slots by calling 15 or through one of the health professionals at the Saint-Maixent-l'École MSP who will have access to the appointment software ( pharmacist, nurse, physiotherapist, speech therapist, etc.).
> No medical consultation can be managed by the hospital and making an appointment is mandatory.
