Air Canada requires new fees, but ‘international airlines don’t’

Since Friday, Air Canada has imposed new baggage fees on travelers.

Base fare passengers traveling to sun destinations or cities in North America must pay $35 to $65 for carry-on baggage.

This measure was poorly received, notably by the federal Minister of Transport, Anita Anand, who denounced Air Canada’s decision.

International companies do not do thishe emphasized in an interview on Saturday.

Etihad does not do it, Air does not do it, British Airways doesn’t do it, Lufthansa doesn’t do it, so at that point, why introduce a price increase to compete with international brand companies? Since these carriers do not charge these fees, Air Canada must decide not to impose them eitherthis John Gradek.

In addition, starting January 21, Air Canada travelers who would like to change seats when checking in will have to pay to obtain this change.
