Today I preferred Puy-St-Vincent to Montgenèvre, telling myself that there would be significantly fewer people. Winning bet: apart from a 3-4 minute queue max at TS des Lauzes, it would have felt like a weekday outside of holidays. We even had some slopes literally to ourselves, like the Bergerie at around 1:30 p.m.

Fortunately the attendance was low, otherwise there would have been carnage on all the slopes below 2000 m (i.e. the arrival of the TSD Bergerie). These were indeed a little grated and with patches of ice that came out easily. But with the good grooming and the absence of people, allowing you to be truly free of your trajectories, it was skiing well.

Above 2000, it was very good, especially on the slopes served by the TS des Lauzes, with the choice of carving on the blue ones (we could let the horses go without worries because of the good grip) or bumps in very soft snow on the Roosters. As always here, the black Rocher Noire was excellent, in packed powder (although officially closed). Unfortunately the Pendine was closed, due to lack of snow (I imagine it was blown away by the wind).

The off-piste isn't bad… but everything has already been mapped out. That said, in the forest, we alternate between traffolée, packed powder and 2-3 powder turns in almost virgin terrain (maximum 15-20 cm).

Ski quality : 3/5

Weather report : the Skipass weather forecast predicts 25 centimeters of snow at the top of the Puy Saint Vincent slopes in the next 3 days, the total snowfall expected over the next 5 days is 62 centimeters. Check the Puy Saint Vincent weather forecast for the full report.
