Despite the restrictions imposed by the DNCG, Olympique Lyonnais actively looking to strengthen this winter. The Rhone club, under the influence of ban on recruitmentworks on the files of Thiago Almada et Luiz Henriquetwo Botafogo players, with the aim of relaunching in the race for Europe in Ligue 1. However, the financial difficulties of OL are slowing down permanent transfers.
The Thiago Almada file, winter priority
To circumvent the sanctions, Lyon's leaders are considering attracting Thiago Almada in the form of a free loan until the end of the season, before completing his permanent transfer this summer. According to L'Équipe, an informal meeting with the DNCG could take place soon in order to obtain approval for this loan, a strategy favored by OL to circumvent its sanctions. Almada has already said goodbye to his teammates in Brazil, ready to join Europe.
The case of Luiz Henrique, more complex
The file of Luiz Henrique turns out to be more delicate. Two options present themselves: a free loan, like Almada, or the release of an extra-community place, all four of which are currently occupied. The idea of seeing Maitland-Niles be recognized as Barbadian, rather than English, had gained ground, reports L'Équipe, with players from Barbados not being considered extra-community thanks to the Cotonou agreement. This matter should see developments in the coming days.
Departures to be expected
Alongside these potential arrivals, departures are also expected at OL in order to rebalance the workforce and reduce the payroll, in accordance with the requirements of the DNCG. The next few days therefore promise to be decisive for the Lyon transfer window, between negotiations with the control body and player movements.
