Traffic is restored on Route 138 after being interrupted east of Sept-Îles, in the Monaghan Beach area, due to a fatal accident that occurred Friday morning.

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the death of a 34-year-old man was noted on site. His identity is still unknown.

Around 6:50 a.m., a head-on collision occurred between a SUV and a van at kilometer 1004. The accident did not cause any other injuries.

Hugues Beaulieu, spokesperson for the SQindicates that driving poorly adapted to road conditions would probably be the cause.

According to Sarah Bensadoun, spokesperson for the Ministry of Transport, a bypass allowed motorists to drive alternately mid-morning.

Vehicles travel on a path alongside a train on a railway track.
