The Spanish government prefers to remain silent regarding negotiations with Morocco, relating to the control of the airspace of Western Sahara, according to an Iberian media. In reaction to a request for information from MP Javier Armas, relating to the same subject, the executive referred the author of the written question to the response given, on December 18, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the plenary of the Lower House of Parliament.
José Manuel Albares then urged the parliamentary group of EH Bildu (Basque separatist) not to repeat “the misinformation of the Popular Party which conveys strange theories on the transfer of control of the airspace of Western Sahara to Morocco”.
“Decisions of private airlines are taken between private companies and relevant agencies in the field of civil aviation and, therefore, they are technical decisions,” he had clarified. And added that “there is a roadmap (from April 7, 2022, editor’s note) clear, transparent between Spain and Morocco that we are in the process of accomplishing.
Point 7 of the joint declaration, sanctioning the talks on April 7, 2022 in Rabat between King Mohammed VI, announces that “discussions concerning the management of airspace will be initiated” between the two countries.
