A cat was shot dead in the heart of the Valais village of Vérossaz, above Saint-Maurice, causing great emotion. A complaint has been filed.

Sunday evening, a family was worried about the disappearance of Taranis, their 2-year-old Maine Coon described as “an adorable grandfather”, reports “24 Heures”. The cat wearing a collar with a GPS linked to an application, its owners were able to locate it. But the animal, although rather a homebody, was then very far away, 7 kilometers from Vérossaz. His body was found the next day, in an embankment.

Taranis’ corpse bore a bullet hole. His owners took him to a veterinarian, who says the little feline was shot in the abdomen. A bullet fired with a 22 long rifle, specify our colleagues. The cat’s owners also discovered “large blood stains” on the side of a road, near their home.

For them, the matter is now as clear as it is shocking: someone shot their cat in the village before taking its corpse and “dumping” it a few kilometers away.

A complaint was filed, with delivery of the bullet found in Taranis’ stomach. The couple, who have so far told their little boy that the cat had been killed by a car, say in “24 Hours” that they are determined that “light is shed” on this sad story.
