The school holidays are coming to an end. Until Sunday, many motorists are expected on the roads to reach or leave mountain resorts. The Hautes-Alpes prefecture calls for caution, because these trips will take place while a snowy episode is announced in the department.

According to Météo-Alpes Durance, after a sunny morning, the sky will become cloudy on Saturday afternoon with light precipitation, particularly near Isère and Savoie. Snow, 5 to 10 centimeters, is expected at 2,000 meters from Valgaudemar to Écrins, and up to 10 cm towards Lautaret. Sunday will be marked by a mild spell up to Ubaye with a clear rise in temperatures.

As a reminder, the Southern Alps are on yellow avalanche alert. The Hautes-Alpes prefecture reminds you of the safety measures: consult the avalanche bulletin before any outing; take safety equipment (DVA, shovel, probe) and know how to use it; stay on routes adapted to your level and conditions; don't go alone and tell someone your route.
