It has barely been opened when it is already forced to close its doors to tourists and vacationers. This is the reason why it is no longer possible to go down the nine slopes of Alti Aigoual.
Why is the Alti Aigoual station, in Gard, at a standstill?
Since the start of the season, the Alti Aigoual ski resortlocated in Gard, only opened for three days. In question, debts which have unfortunately accumulated over the years. According to information from France 3 Occitanie region, managers must find 10,000 euros to be able to hope for a reopening of this station. Despite systems put in place to help the station stay open, such as an online prize pool or even a solidarity package, times are tough for this unique place in Gard.
“We are in the process of repaying our debt with our old insurance and looking for solutions to pay for the current one,” said Denis Boissière, spokesperson for the station in question. “For sledding, the slopes are open because there is no need for insurance. It works well: we have had quite a few people in recent days. In any case, there wasn't enough snow to go skiing”, he also told France 3 Occitanie region.

So, can we hope for a reopening of the Alti Aigoual station, in Gard, in 2025 or not at all? Nathan Marche, technician, is hopeful: “I hope we will be able to find a solution. […] I always have maintenance to do on the ski lifts. I am refining them, hoping for a reopening in 2025,” he confided in an interview with France Bleu.
In the meantime, the ski resort restaurant remained open. Faced with this major financial difficulty for managers, all that remains is to hope that the only resort in Gard can once again open its doors to vacationers wishing to ski and descend these nine slopes.
