The administration of the Tangier 2 local prison has assured that the health situation within the penitentiary establishment remains “normal” and does not give rise to concern.
Reacting to what was broadcast by certain electronic sites concerning “the spread of measles among inmates of the local prison of Tangier 2”, the General Delegation of Prison Administration and Reintegration (DGAPR) indicated that from he appearance of the first symptoms of the disease in four prisoners, including two new arrivals, the administration of Tangier 2 prison immediately undertook a series of preventive measures.
Suspected cases were quarantined and subjected to the necessary analyses, the DGAPR said in a press release, adding that the appropriate therapeutic protocol was followed for cases testing positive among detainees and civil servants, in cooperation with local health authorities.
A voluntary vaccination operation against measles was also carried out for the benefit of inmates and staff of the penitentiary establishment, under the supervision of medical staff reporting to the Ministry of Health.
