Your vacation may not be over yet, but it's never too early to think about what's next. The year 2025 has just begun and it is already affected by good news : only one of the 11 Public holidays established by the Labor Code fall on a Saturday or Sunday. The new year's calendar therefore allows for a minimum number of days off while enjoying maximum rest. Here are some tips for extending your vacation without emptying your vacation or RTT balance.
Enjoy Easter Monday
This year, Easter Monday falls on April 21, much later than in 2024. Like every year, the three-day weekend will therefore be automatic and with a little luck, you will be able to enjoy good weather spring. By taking Friday the 18th and Tuesday the 22nd, you can even enjoy five consecutive days of rest.
Hit the jackpot thanks to the May bridges
The planets are aligned in May! The three public holidays of the month all fall on a Thursday. By posing on Friday 2 May, so you can enjoy a four-day weekend thanks to Labor Day on Thursday 1st. Rebelote a week later with May 8, day of commemoration of the capitulation of Nazi Germany to the Allied forces in 1945. Marking Friday 9 May, you can bridge the gap with the weekend. Same strategy three weeks later with Ascension, Thursday 29 May : you will just have to ask on Friday 30 to be off for four days.
Thinking about Pentecost
Will you be back for a short three-day weekend after these May holidays? Pentecost Monday falls this year on June 9. If it is not chosen by your company as a “solidarity day”, here's something to take a breather before the summer holidays, which will begin on the 5th. July.
Optimize your summer vacation by leaving between the 14th July and 15 august
If you have enough vacation days left, it is possible to optimize your summer vacation by taking them between the 14th July and 15 august. This year, the National Day falls on a Monday, while the Assumption falls on a Friday. By taking 23 days off and counting the weekends surrounding these two dates, you will be able to go on vacation 37 days next summer. Either way, you will enjoy two three-day weekends.
Enjoy a four-day weekend in November
The month of November is mixed : the 1st November, All Saints' Day, falls on a Saturday. Not enough to shorten your work week. On the other hand, the commemoration of the armistice of 1918, on 11 November, falls on a Tuesday. So all you have to do is put down Monday, November 10 to enjoy a four-day weekend.
Rest one more day at Christmas
Yes, it's in 12 months, but nothing stops you from thinking about the Christmas holidays. The 25th December falls on a Thursday in 2025. By setting Friday the 26th, you will therefore be able to taste the joys of a beautiful four-day weekend. You can apply the same recipe the following week, on the 1st January falls on a Thursday… but let's not get ahead of ourselves, the time to make the list of public holidays for 2026 has not yet come.
