The minister also recalled the adoption of Law No. 16-16 ratifying the “Medicrime” Convention, the first international treaty aimed at criminalizing the manufacture and sale of falsified medicines. This convention encourages cooperation between health authorities, police and customs, to better track criminal networks.
Raise awareness to protect
Beyond repressive measures, Amine Tahraoui insisted on the importance of raising citizen awareness. “Moroccans must be aware of the dangers of purchasing medicines outside authorized channels,” he noted. The authorities are therefore increasing information campaigns to encourage the use of pharmacies and approved establishments.
Faced with the rise of “online pharmacies”, the fight is far from won. But the joint efforts of authorities and the vigilance of citizens are essential to protect public health and guarantee safe access to medicines.
