A security operation carried out jointly by elements of National Security, Customs and the Royal Gendarmerie, Monday evening at the El Guerguerat border post, south of the city of Dakhla, made it possible to foil an attempt to smuggle a cargo of 3,575 tonnes from Chira on board an international transport truck registered in Morocco, reported the MAP agency from a security source.
The truck was subjected to a careful search, using sniffer dogs, which led to the discovery of a quantity of 3,575 tonnes of Chira, hidden in a cargo of frozen fish, said the same source, also making status of the arrest of the driver of the truck used in the attempted trafficking of the seized drugs, a 29-year-old Moroccan citizen.
