You may have heard of the disappearance of Storm the pigeon since the December 16, 2024. As they say, a miracle has arrived! For the biggest relief d’Inès LefèvreStorm being part of its family.
When we hear the story of Tempête and her friends in particular Pan the dogit's truly a story that gives us all a life lesson.
Tempête is a pigeon who was going to end up in a trash can on a construction site where I found her. When she was a youngster, I collected her, fed her and raised her so that she could one day regain her freedom.
More Tempête could not be raised with her species in Inès' despair. Another way of saying that it is the animal that chooses its family and there again, it was Tempête who chose hers, that of Inès.
“However, she lives freely, windows open, even if she spends most of her time with me in the workshop, she eats and sleeps with me” continues Inès.
Inès does not live in the region, but often returns there to spend holidays with her parents in Éroudeville (Manche). Which means that Storm knows the surroundings from Éroudeville, she knows how to find his way.
The bird affected by the death of a dog
At Inès, other animals are present, the dogs Pan and Poupinou. But unfortunately, Poupinou, aged 15, died on December 15. “Storm no longer moved, no longer cooed and remained prostrate, clearly shocked. When my dog was sick, she would snuggle up to her and coo in her ear. The next day, Tempête set off suddenly in a straight line across the fields. I was worried at the time, I saw that something was not normal,” explains Inès.
But Tempête did not return, nor the following days. For a week Inès searched for her with Pan in the countryside.
Pan screamed loudly while calling her, asked me to open the window at night so she could come in and watched for the slightest flight of birds. He was looking at the place where she usually sleeps, crying.
Not returning, Inès posted a disappearance alert on social networks. She had noted details about Storm's description, as well as her habits and the reasons for her departure.
A call from Lestre
And to Inès's greatest happiness, on Monday December 30 in the morning, she received a call from Lestre, 10 km from Éroudeville. Annie Lemarinel and Jean-Luc Haas had taken Tempête in and fed her. They had read the alert and that's when they contacted Inès. “They suspected Storm was tame, so they fed her and gave her a night's shelter for several days! Tempête stayed with them when she understood that she was being taken care of here,” explains Inès.
When Annie gave the details about the pigeon, its colors, particularities, its habits, Inès had no doubt to understand that it was indeed Tempête.
She planned all the means to go to Annie's house to pick up Tempête.
Surprising for everyone, when Inès arrived at Annie's house, Tempête snuggled up in Inès' arms. Pan had no doubt about finding his friend, since he licked her like never before!
She lay on my lap loose during the trip and exhausted. When we got home, Tempête went into the bedroom and lay down in the bed, cooing to call me.
The dog Pan is so happy to have found his friend and for fear of losing her again, he never leaves her side, he stays lying next to her.
Tempête has its fan club on the networks. “This one was praying for his return! My workshop is called La Pie Factory and people are used to following it daily in stories on my networks” concludes Inès.
