CLike the Allée Ortal in Lacanau-oyenne, the lake beach located in the Moutchic district of Lacanau will be given a facelift. Very popular in the summer period with families, this seaside area contributes to the success of the resort. In recent years, nautical activities have also developed. A few restaurants and refreshments allow visitors to eat on site. There are campsites there, which complete the reception offer dedicated to the general public. The Moutchic is also crossed by cycle paths, which makes it a stopping point and a very popular crossroads for two-wheelers. In short, this center deserved to be renovated.
In an interview with “Sud Ouest”, Laurent Peyrondet, the mayor of Lacanau, indicated that the work would take place in two phases. From this month of January, the first intervention will consist of erasing and securing the networks. This involves the coordinated undergrounding of electricity, electronic communications and public lighting networks. This stage will end before the start of the summer season. The municipality will finance this project alone to the tune of 300,000 euros.
New landscape scene
Starting next fall, the second stage of the Moutchic redevelopment will be launched. It will be devoted to making pedestrians safer by creating a suitable platform in front of restaurant terraces, resuming sidewalks and creating more compliant pedestrian crossings. Regarding the improvement of soft mobility, spaces dedicated to bicycle parking will be created, as well as a connection to the cycle path and the future retro-coastal car park to the east, and a greenway along the beach .
Regarding the optimization of parking, the complete waterproofing of the parking lot is planned (earth-stone mixture and grass slabs), the installation of a landscaped retention valley on the southern edge of the parking lot, as well as spaces for people with reduced mobility. More informative and educational signage is included in the plan, such as the renewal of street furniture.
The requalification of the landscaped backdrop and green beaches by strengthening the tree layer will give a new “touch” to this increasingly popular lakeside location. For the financing of this second part of the project, estimated at 3.5 million euros, the councilor says he is confident. A good part of the investment will be covered by the Adour-Garonne Water Agency. The complement may be provided by other partners (Europe, Region, Department) as well as the municipality and the community of communes (CdC) Médoc Atlantique.
