Essonne: ex-medicine deliveryman imprisoned after series of burglaries in pharmacies

He had kept duplicate keys. A 24-year-old man suspected of having carried out thefts in three pharmacies, in Essonne and Hauts-de-Seine, was placed in pre-trial detention on December 30 while awaiting his trial in court, we learned this week. He is a former employee of a delivery company which supplied pharmacies with certain medications.

It is with flagrante delicto that the affair begins. On the night of December 28 to 29, 2024, around midnight, an alert came from the station pharmacy, Cour Blaise-Pascal in Évry-Courcouronnes. The silent anti-intrusion alarm is triggered: the police, quickly notified, arrive on site, but too late, the intruders have disappeared. Video surveillance filmed two people emptying the pharmacy's cash registers, after having managed to enter the premises without breaking in… The damage turned out to be significant: around 3,000 euros in cash taken by the perpetrators.

The first elements of the investigation show that the duo would have accessed the pharmacy using a key which allows access to the reserve. A key normally used by medicine delivery people. Indeed, the video surveillance images analyzed by police officers from the Évry police station reveal that a vehicle from a delivery company appears during the theft.

Investigators are making progress on the trail of a suspect, a former employee in this company, when a connection turns the case upside down. The Issy-les-Moulineaux police station (Hauts-de-Seine) warns that of Évry that the suspect in question is currently in police custody, for… theft in a pharmacy, this time in Boulogne-Billancourt. At the same time, the police discovered that a similar incident had been reported at the Damier pharmacy, in , within the same period of time: more than 4,000 euros stolen.

This suspect, aged 24, was brought back to Évry for questioning. Investigations confirm that they did indeed work for the delivery company, which terminated their contract this fall. After which, the young man allegedly stole a delivery van and a keychain with eight keys to different pharmacies… He then allegedly carried out thefts in three pharmacies, with an accomplice who has not yet been identified.

Confronted with all these elements, the suspect, residing in Val-d'Oise, admitted the three thefts committed at the end of December in pharmacies, but not that of the company vehicle. He was presented to the Évry judicial court this Monday, December 30, then placed in pre-trial detention until his appearance in court in the coming weeks. He faces seven years in prison.
