The 71-year-old man who mysteriously disappeared after a vehicle breakdown in Indre was found three days later in his stuck car. He is in a state of exhaustion but “does not cause any major concern”, the departmental authorities commented on Wednesday January 1 on Facebook.
“Excellent news to start this year 2025”, comment the Indre gendarmes. It was in the introduction to a Facebook post that the police announced, Wednesday January 1, 2025, the end of the search for the septuagenarian who disappeared three days earlier. “Following numerous searches over the past three days […]Jean-Marie […] was found safe and sound on January 1, 2025, in the afternoon […]”, continue the authorities.
The 71-year-old man had not given any sign of life since December 29, after calling for assistance for a vehicle breakdown. A call for witnesses was launched two days later by the police.
Three days without a cell phone on a muddy path
It was on a forest path in the town of Saint-Août (Indre) that three Belgian walkers came across the unfortunate man's vehicle, “in an area very difficult to access”. The car was actually stuck in this path far from busy roads. The septuagenarian was stuck there for three days, having problems getting around. His cell phone was also out of charge. The survivor was able to hold on while taking advantage of the interior heating.
Originally from the town of Issoudun (Indre), the survivor was found “exhausted” but “his state of health does not cause any major concern”, assured the gendarmes. The man was transported to Châteauroux hospital to undergo health examinations and then returned to his loved ones.
