More than 3,500 Hydro-Québec customers were without electricity in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean on Thursday morning, the day after New Year’s Day.
The cause of these numerous outages is currently unknown.
The largest service interruption affects 1,205 households in the district of Chicoutimi, in Saguenay. These residences are located in the neighborhoods at the junction of Talbot and University boulevards.
Hydro-Québec indicates that the outage should be restored by 9 a.m.
The Saguenay Police Department also warns motorists since several traffic lights do not work in the area and urges caution due to the weather conditions. In Saguenay, the streets were snow-covered Thursday morning.
An outage also affects several sectors in the MRC du Fjord-du-Saguenay while 1,221 addresses are affected by an interruption. In L’Anse-Saint-Jean, 688 homes are affected by a power interruption which should be restored around 9 a.m.
In Petit-Saguenay, 315 customers are affected by an outage and in Rivière-Éternité, 132 homes are without electricity due to an interruption.
Hundreds of homes in Lac-Saint-Jean Est are also without electricity.
