Giorgi Chakvetadze is exploding at Watford. He seems to have learned the lessons of his checkered time at La Gantoise.
Do you remember Giorgi Chakvetadze? Ghent had been to unearth the Georgian winger from Dinamo Tbilisi for 1.5 million in 2017. An amount which very quickly appeared like a pittance given the player’s talent.
In the Pro League, the native of Tiflis sometimes gave the opportunity to have fun. A year and a half after his arrival, he was already estimated at nine million euros by Transfermarkt.
It was still necessary to be consistent over time. That’s where it stuck. Not helped by serious knee problems, Chakvetadze ended up disappearing from circulation, becoming nothing more than a shadow of the promising youngster he embodied upon his return. The Buffalos loaned him to Hamburg, Slovan Bratislava and Watford.

In England, the Georgian international has regained all his sensations. So much so that last winter, the Hornets transferred him permanently for 2.5 million. So far, they have had no complaints about the investment.
Over the whole of 2024, Giorgi Chakvetade created no less than 86 chances, more than any other player in the Championship. The creativity of the former Buffalo player should help Watford secure the Playoffs for accession to the Premier League.
