Dakar vibrated this weekend to the rhythm of the 1st edition of Efest Africa, a unique event dedicated to gaming and geek culture. Organized by the Senegalese association of Gamers SENGAMES at the Théodore Monod Museum, this festival brought together enthusiasts of all ages, confirming the growing place of Senegal in the world of new technologies and digital entertainment.
In just two days, Efest Africa managed to bring together more than 1,500 participants, attracted by a varied program including 4 high-level panels, addressing essential themes such as education, training in the video games sector, creation Africa and the prospects for Africa in the esports Olympic Games, 7 exhibitions highlighting local talents, including the Game Hub Senegal and its innovative startups.
Added to this are creative competitions, such as drawing competitions, cosplay competitions, and the Questions for a Geek quiz and 12 esports competitions bringing together the best players in the region, with a total cash prize of 2,500,000 CFA.
Efest Africa 2024 marks the start of a promising adventure. Given the enthusiasm generated, the organizers hope to make this event an unmissable annual meeting for Senegalese and African youth.
