A 38-year-old Quebecer lost his life last Saturday in an avalanche in Utah, according to “The Salt Lake Tribune”.
The body of David Ethier was found the day after his death. L’Estrien was alone at the time of the tragedy which occurred on a trail in Millcreek Canyon, according to the daily.
Searches to find him began on December 29.
On the social network Facebook, the victim’s brother, Martin Ethier, paid tribute to him on Wednesday, like several other relatives who highlighted his dynamism.
«[…] David was a fit man who loved the outdoors, but also a son, a beloved godfather, my favorite mechanic and a friend loved by all,” wrote Martin Ethier.
He also thanked the teams who participated in the research. He highlighted the gesture of a “good Samaritan” who found his brother’s dog and took him in.
“The last few days have been trying,” he added. I would like to thank everyone who provided their help and support, directly or indirectly. It was a great team effort.”
According to Martin Ethier, the victim’s family is awaiting the details of a report to know exactly the causes and circumstances of the death.
