Who could have imagined that an evening with friends, washed down with a few beers, would give birth to a curling club in ? And yet, that’s exactly what happened, says 20 minutes. It all started with a thought as simple as it was eccentric: how to participate in the Olympic Games? After some research, curling became obvious. A team sport, little practiced in , and above all, a game in which good humor is essential. However, these neophytes from Metz knew nothing about curling. No problem ! They learned the rules on the Internet, by watching videos of Canadians, and by devouring specialized books. The first training sessions were a little laborious, but the motivation remained intact. With the help of a skating club in , they even managed to obtain equipment, including curling stones.

Local enthusiasm and international ambitions

The Graoully Curling Club quickly gained popularity in Metz. Around twenty members train regularly, each bringing their own skills. A geologist is interested in the composition of the stones, others focus on strategy, and some work on club communication. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the objective is clear: to participate in the 2030 Olympic Games.
