SENEGAL was honored, this December 31, 2024, by the address to the Nation of the President of the Republic, Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar FAYE. This speech to the Nation, marked by visionary depth and affirmed ambition, outlined the broad outlines of SENEGAL’s national policy for the years to come. In harmony with the General Policy Declaration (DPG) of his Prime Minister, Mr. Ousmane SONKO, the President of the Republic reaffirmed the commitment of his Government to lead SENEGAL towards a just, sovereign and prosperous future.

1.⁠ ⁠The consolidation of national sovereignty: the President insisted on the need to strengthen the foundations of an independent State in its economic, political and strategic choices. On the diplomatic level, he announced the end of all foreign military presence in SENEGAL from 2025, affirming the country’s sovereignty in matters of defense and security.

2.⁠ ⁠Inclusive and sustainable development: Particular attention was paid to education, professional training, health, and the fight against social inequalities. The SENEGAL of tomorrow must be a country where every citizen has access to opportunities and dignity.

The President’s speech finds a strong echo in the general policy declaration of the Prime Minister, Mr. Ousmane Sonko, delivered a few days earlier. A call for national unity and hope
