The Haut-Rhin has been placed on yellow snow ice vigilance by Météo France for the night and day of Thursday January 2.
Snow expected in Haut-Rhin. Snowflakes are forecast for the evening and night of Thursday, January 2, particularly in the towns of Huningue, Ferrette and Altirch. Negative temperatures and snowflakes are also forecast in Guebwiller for Friday morning, by Météo France.
The weather forecast institute has placed the two Alsatian departments on yellow alert for a risk of snow and ice on Thursday.
“As the day goes on, the snow will become widespread above 300 meters in the Grand Est with significant quantities of around 10 to 20 centimeters on the heights of the Vosges and the Jura,” says Météo France.
A difficult prediction
The evolution of the disturbance over the weekend could again “temporarily give snow precipitation in contact with cold air”.
However, there are no certainties for forecasters. “The trends are still unreliable from the end of the week since a conflict between mild air and cold air will occur towards France,” explains Guillaume Séchet, meteorologist, noting a deterioration in the “reliability of the forecasts”.
