As a preamble to the last 2024 municipal council in Rochefort-du-Gard, Rémy Bachevalier, the mayor, paid tribute to Jean Eyraud: “His death moved us greatly. Former municipal police chief and president of veterans, he embodied commitment, the duty to remember and a deep sense of public service. All his life, he was committed to Rochefort-du-Gard.“The mayor then added a 20th deliberation to the agenda in order to vote on an exceptional grant of €1,000 to help the victims of Mayotte.
Quality architecture
The chairman of the session called on Dominique Ribéri and Maurice Savary, respectively former mayor and deputy for town planning, to share with current elected officials the obtaining of the ÉcoQuartier level 3 label which marks the completion of the work in the Le Galoubet eco-district. The mayor of Rochefort recently visited the capital to receive the distinction.
“When the label was awarded, we were among the smallest cities. It was both the quality of the architecture, the housing and our ambition for a successful urban transplant to live harmoniously together that were praised.“, describes the chosen one.
Without forgetting to salute the work accomplished over 7 years, of which Dominique Riberi and Maurice Savary, former mayor and deputy for town planning, are at the origin. And to underline the commitment of Isabelle Apuzzo and Marilyne Chris Bellon, deputy delegate for social affairs.
The Gaboulet 2, an ambition
“Thank you, Mr. Mayor; but today there is the construction of Galoubet 2 on the adjacent land and this new achievement will have to be as ambitious to meet the commitments we have made with the State services“, said Dominique Ribéry.
An opportunity for Julien Peaudoie to recall the uninterrupted construction of housing on wooded land or already high-density neighborhoods.without any respect for the environmentt”. Intervention stopped by the mayor who informed the opposition elected official that the municipal council was not a forum.
This intervention echoed deliberation No. 15 because the municipality joined the association Commune solidaire SRU, whose objective is to allow cities lacking in social housing to avoid going through the hoops of the law which requires that 25% of their real estate portfolio is allocated to social. “We aim to revise this very restrictive law“, commented Rémy Bachevalier.
A tree-lined place
Le Galoubet was designed around a tree-lined village square to contrast with a very mineral space. It is built around the municipal restaurant with a capacity of 120 seats, a shared house with 20 apartments, a rental stock and 30 housing units for ownership, this set is part of an overall project where respect for the environment and living well together in an intergenerational mix occupy a large place.
“The specifications have 20 points and 4 pillars from which we cannot deviate, including landscape integration and proximity to shops. Accession to level 3 closes the construction and development phase of public spaces“, explains Rémy Bachevalier.
The City is now engaged in phase 4 which aims to analyze the way in which this eco-district lives. This last stage will conclude with labeling. “We are pioneers in the Gard Rhôdanien and Le Galoubet is now a school“, assures the first magistrate.
