A 31-year-old cyclist died around 8 p.m. Tuesday evening after a collision with a vehicle in downtown Sherbrooke, in Estrie.

According to a press release from the Sherbrooke Police Department (SPS), the accident occurred around 8 p.m. on rue du Dépôt. The cyclist was then found on the ground following the collision, according to what citizens reported, explains the SPS. He was then taken to hospital with serious injuries, from which he later succumbed.

The SPS indicates that “quickly, all emergency services were requested on site” and that “all hypotheses are being studied to explain the circumstances of the event”, for the moment.

Rue du Dépôt is closed to all traffic between Rue King Ouest and Rue Aberdeen.

“Investigators, forensic identification technicians from the Sherbrooke police department, assisted by collision investigation reconstructionists from the Sûreté du Québec will be deployed on the ground during the evening to reconstruct the event. », Indicates the SPS.
