Diourbel, Dec 28 (APS) – The carousel erected in the heart of the town center of the commune of Diourbel (center) is the main place of attraction for children, thus offering them a beautiful environment for development with multiple fun activities, in this end-of-year holiday season.
This children’s play area, nestled in the heart of the public space developed by the municipality, was inaugurated less than two weeks ago.
The space, the operation of which is entrusted to a local private company, thanks to a partnership with the town hall, offers a wide range of entertainment activities such as the fairground, the carousel, fake vehicles, etc.
It has become the new destination for little ones, who take over the place in the afternoons, accompanied by their parents.
You have to pay between 200 and 500 CFA francs to access it. Accompanied by his three-year-old son, Abdoulaye Diouf believes that the ride has come at its right time and offers a favorable environment for the development of children.
Its inauguration at the same time as the public space which hosts it, in the heart of the city, gradually brings back to Diourbel a beautiful atmosphere of sound and light.
“Previously, parents had difficulty finding a place for their children to entertain themselves, especially during the Christmas and end-of-year holidays. But this year, with the inauguration of the carousel, the children have an excellent setting to play and have fun,” rejoices Abdoulaye Diouf.
His hope is to see the municipality and the ride manager ensure the preservation and security of the facilities.
Mamour Diaw, responsible for their management, ensures that “all arrangements will be made for the maintenance of the equipment”. Because, he says, the carousel and the relaxation areas surrounding it will continue to operate after the end-of-year holidays so that the people of Diourbell have a permanent environment for distraction and development.
Festive and shopping atmosphere
“Thanks to the development of several play spaces, the children of the commune of Diourbel now have a beautiful setting to have fun and spend the end-of-year holidays in a festive atmosphere,” recognizes, for her part, Amy Ndiaye .
In her thirties, this young mother says she is dazzled by the beautiful facilities she found there with her children. “Diourbel deserves to have this type of urban development like Dakar, Thiès and the other large cities in the country,” she argues.
In addition to the carousel, the public space set up by the Diourbel town hall hosts stands where traders and restaurateurs have established their neighborhood there.
They offer visitors food, children’s toys, Christmas decorations and other garlands, giving these places, its surroundings and the town hall esplanade the air of an open-air Christmas market.
“In the morning, I sell breakfast in my usual place of business, next to the train station. But for the past few days, in the evening, I have been coming here to sell meat skewers, chicken dishes, natural juice, etc. », explains Ms. Rokhaya Mbaye.
The space is monitored by police officers, assisted by security guards, who ensure the safety of people and property, to the delight of traders and visitors.
