The owner of a private clinic in Casablanca and two surgeons will find themselves in the dock at the criminal court of first instance following a medical error that cost the life of a patient.
«The victim underwent two operations under the supervision of the two surgeons who explained her death as complications from uterine cancer. Explanation that her husband categorically rejected, specifying that his wife was completely cured of her cancer», summarizes the daily Assaba in its weekend edition of December 28 and 29.
Furthermore, revealed the bridegroom, “one of the two surgeons even allegedly manipulated the patient, making her believe that the objective of the first operation was to cure a cancer from which she did not suffer».
Because, explains the husband, “the woman had already had one breast removed and was completely cured. She then consulted a specialist in gynecological surgery for inflammation of the uterine tissue. He advised her to have her uterus removed to avoid any recurrence.».
The patient, continues her husband, accepted, even though her state of health was good. Worse still, reveals the same source, “the surgical operation was carried out without preliminary examinations being carried out».
The operation led to serious complications in the digestive system, requiring a second operation, which was carried out in another private health establishment where the woman died. Interviewed by investigators as part of the investigation opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, “the deceased’s husband claimed that the victim’s digestive system was in good condition after the first surgery».
The death was allegedly caused by a medical error during the second surgical operation. The current investigation will help untangle this complex web.
