SENEGAL-EDUCATION / Education system: a “too heavy” program and a “long course” (MP) – Senegalese press agency

Dakar, Dec 27 (APS) – The teaching program in force in Senegalese schools is “too heavy” for students with a long curriculum of 13 long years, deplored MP Angélique Mame Selbé Diouf, Friday, at occasion of the general policy declaration (DPG) of the Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, to the National Assembly.

“You clearly said that education is at the heart of development, announcing measures for the systemic transformation of education. But, you did not mention the necessary reform of educational programs,” she regretted, addressing the Prime Minister.

The MP, elected on the departmental list of Pastef (presidential movement) in Keur Massar, judges that the curriculum in the primary cycle is too long and that the program should be “lightened”.

“The Senegal 2050 framework must reflect a people with skills and qualifications that correspond and contribute to systemic change,” said Marie Angélique Mame Selbé Diouf.
