At the end of the year, the Opera invites us to rejoice with Beautiful Helene by Offenbach under the direction of Benjamin Garzia, directed by Michel Fau. Invitation is launched, “for the holidays, to forget the hero fights. The war is far away, the kings of Greece are relaxing and a young Trojan prince disguised as a shepherd comes to claim the one the gods promised him: the beautiful Helen. She calls for love and no longer hopes for it on Menelaus' side. The impostures then follow one another at the expense of the husband, in a fool's game which could have terrible consequences. »

This opera buffa in three acts, created in 1864, will be a triumph. Offenbach and his two accomplice librettists Meilhac and Halévy revisit the Homeric epic “while blithely mocking the failings of the imperial elite who surrounded Napoleon III”.

With Julie Robard-Gendre (Hélène), Philippe Talbot (Pâris), Anne-Catherine Gillet (Oreste), Charlie Guillemin (Ménélas), Franck Leguerinel (Agamemnon), Patrick Bolleire, Hoël Troadec, Antonel Boldan, Frédéric Cornille and artists from choir. Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes (including intermission). Fully booked on Sunday December 29. Last places for performances on December 31 and 1is January.

> “La Belle Hélène” at the Tours Opera, Sunday December 29 at 3 p.m. (from €13 to €83), Tuesday 31 at 7 p.m. (from €15 to €98) and Wednesday 1is January at 7 p.m. (from €13 to €83).
