BTS Water Management and Control students from the high school invited by the Agro Institute as part of the Cordées de la Résuccess were able to attend engineering student project defenses related to the use of water in agriculture and the effects of climate change.
They also visited the hydraulic hall in the presence of Frédéric Rossel, teacher-researcher.
In the afternoon, they went to the Arago water treatment plant for a visit with Ms. Leneouannic from the Montpellier water authority, as well as Kévin Coustan, technician at the water authority and former student of the high school.
The Arago drinking water station is supplied by the Lez source and serves around 400,000 inhabitants of the Montpellier metropolitan area via 1,600 km of network, the distance from Montpellier to Copenhagen.
Most of the time the treatments are simple, because the water from the Lez is of very good quality, more extensive treatments are carried out when the Lez resource is supplemented by water from the Bas Rhône which the station can also receive. The two potable water tanks located at the station outlet with a total volume of 24,000 m3 impressed students and teachers.
A day rich in lessons which will undoubtedly encourage vocations and end 2024 well.
