An exceptional vintage. This sums up the 2024 AJA vintage well. From the victory against Bordeaux on January 15 to the elimination in the Coupe de France against Dunkirk last Sunday, the Auxerrois experienced twelve months of great intensity where the rare disappointments always gave way to flamboyant successes. Like the French Ligue 2 champion title celebrated at Abbé-Deschamps and in town last spring. Images forever engraved in the memory of supporters for a vintage now included in the club's prize list with the Maltese Cross.
This year, Christophe Pélissier and his players did not just return to Ligue 1 just one year after their relegation. They added style with the third title of champion in the history of the Ajaist club, crowned in D1 in 1996 and in D2, already, in 1980. To the greatest pleasure, and the greatest pride, of the people Auxerre who started singing “we are the champions, we are the champions…” a few minutes before the end of the match against Paris FC on May 4. That day, in a packed Abbé-Deschamps stadium, as has almost become the rule, goals from Lassine Sinayoko and Ado Onaiwu offered three points which almost sealed the rise and the title made official the following week by a no one in Amiens. The just reward for the Auxerre demonstration.
