SENEGAL-COLLECTIVITIES / Taïba Niassene: the mayor deplores the delay in the implementation of the sanitation master plan – Senegalese press agency

Kaolack, Dec 23 (APS) – The mayor of the commune of Taïba Niassene, in the department of Nioro du Rip (Kaolack), Mouhamadou Habib Niasse, expressed, Monday, his regret at noting the late implementation of the master plan of sanitation (PDA) of its local authority.

''The implementation of the sanitation master plan, which was envisaged since 2022, is slow to be effective. We are told that it is in procurement procedures,'' he declared in particular. He recalled that Taïba Niassene is a religious city.

He participated, in Kaolack, in the meeting of the regional development committee (CRD) devoted to preparations for the annual Gamou of Taïba Niassene, scheduled for January 15. This religious event celebrates the birth, in Taïba Niassene, of Cheikh Al Islam El Hadji Ibrahima Niass known as Baye (1900-1975).

''Our resources being very limited, we are seeking the support of all State services, especially in the areas of public lighting, sanitation and security issues,'' he said. .

If the religious city benefits from the various programs of the State of Senegal, Mouhamadou Habib Niasse nevertheless deplores the inadequacy of public policy interventions.

''We urge the authorities to take greater account of the status of a religious city of Taïba Niassene, which has an international scope,'' argued the local elected official.
