“I wish good luck to the new government of our country,” wrote Fabrice Loher, this Monday, December 23, 2024, on his Facebook page. Resigning Deputy Minister of the Sea and Fisheries from the Barnier government, the mayor of Lorient was not reappointed in the Bayrou government, appointed this Monday evening. Agnès Pannier-Runacher succeeds him in a broader ministry, including ecological transition and biodiversity.
Back to local business
Fabrice Loher intends to bounce back quickly. He specifies that he will dedicate himself “again 200% to my city of Lorient and the region”. The return to local affairs should be without difficulty for Fabrice Loher who, the day after his appointment on September 21, 2024 and his entry into government, announced that he wanted to keep his mandates. He very quickly gave up his compensation as mayor and president of Lorient agglomeration. Recognizing that his schedule as minister could sometimes be difficult to reconcile with that of president, the elected official announced in mid-October that he was considering his future at the head of the city. Finally, the difficulties encountered by the Prime Minister around the vote on the Social Security budget led to the fall of the government on December 4.
“Attentive to the maritime world”
In his message, Fabrice Loher reiterates “the honor” which was his “to serve the Republic at the highest level of the State”. He underlines that “in the very difficult circumstances our country is going through, France needs stability and serenity. I sincerely hope that this will be the case in the coming months.”
At the head of a city and a territory open largely to the sea, Fabrice Loher assures that he will remain “attentive to the maritime world which has shown me a lot of gratitude in recent days”. And specifies that “the men and women who contribute to our food sovereignty and the economic life of our coastlines deserve to be ardently defended”.
