A post office attacked with explosives, the loot estimated at more than 450,000 euros

Several criminals targeted the post office located at 15 chemin des Izards, in (Haute-Garonne) this Monday morning at 6:30 a.m. Using explosives, they blew up the back door allowing access to the cash depository, as reported by
The Dispatch. A meticulous operation which allowed them to seize a large sum of money before fleeing.

The thieves would have taken around 470,000 euros, according to
Blue. This sum, although relayed by several sources, has not been officially confirmed. Witnesses reported that the criminals quickly left the scene in two vehicles. Investigators will rely on video surveillance images to identify the perpetrators and trace their journey.

The Toulouse public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation for “theft by an organized gang” and “destruction of property by dangerous means by an organized gang”. The investigations were entrusted to police officers from the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS). On site, the forensic identity teams carried out technical and photographic surveys to analyze the traces left by the explosives. Witnesses and residents were also questioned by the police.

The post office remains closed “until further notice”
according to a note displayed at the entrance. La Poste’s communication clarified that “the office reopens at usual hours but only for parcel mail operations”. The Post Office filed a complaint.
