During the municipal council meeting of December 18, 2024, the elected officials of Bégrolles-en-Mauges (Maine-et-) unanimously voted for the establishment of a general contribution for access to public service, of a fixed amount annual of €150.

This contribution only targets tenants of a residence located on municipal territory. Contributors to property tax on buildings are exempt, in order to limit the tax pressure exerted on them.

Closing a tax gap

This decision echoes the abolition of the housing tax on main residences, concentrating all efforts on owners. Who must pay a property tax whose bases are outdated, no revaluation of the rental values ​​of this tax having been made by the State since 1971.

Through this general contribution to access to public services, the municipal council wants to correct these tax injustices, and better distribute participation in the financing of local public services between all Bégrollais.

Finally, the elimination of the housing tax impacts the financial autonomy of communities, including Bégrolles-en-Mauges, which no longer have this lever. However, they are constrained to the golden rule of budget balance…
