The Loire gendarmes undoubtedly experienced nights generating less adrenaline than that of Friday December 20 to Saturday December 21. That evening, three soldiers patrolled in an unmarked vehicle between Roanne and Balbigny, on national road 82.
Flashing lights and siren at maximum
After consulting their file, they noticed that a driver, who was traveling in a Renault Clio 4 in the same direction as the soldiers, was the subject of two search cards: the first for a previous refusal to comply in the Rhône, the second for not having respected his obligation to communicate his change of address, as a person registered in the file of perpetrators of sexual and violent offenses.
They decide to check it out. But the motorist does not want to submit to it. He slows down sharply on this fast lane. Then, in a senseless gesture, turned around on the dual carriageway and went the wrong way onto the national road. It travels up the axis at high speed for several kilometers, forcing truck drivers and motorists to take evasive maneuvers.
The gendarmes, who immediately alerted the operational center, followed him with the two-tone siren and flashing lights at maximum, in order to alert road users of the danger that presents themselves.
The accident occurs on the exit ramp at Vendranges
Near Vendranges, the driver took the insertion ramp in the wrong direction but lost control of his vehicle. He hit the concrete wall and stopped a few dozen meters further, in the middle of the roundabout where he was arrested by the police.
They are then surprised to discover that the recalcitrant driver is transporting a passenger in the person of his five-year-old daughter, seated in the front passenger seat.
Positive for cocaine and cannabis
The driver was placed in police custody for the facts of refusal to comply aggravated by endangering the lives of others, refusal to submit to drug checks, even though he tested positive for cocaine and with cannabis.
He will also have to answer for driving despite the administrative suspension of his license, taking the name of a third party during the roadside check and the use of narcotics (cannabis resin having been found on him during the pat-down).
Second Rhône file attached to the procedure
A second file of refusal to comply, initiated by the motorized platoon of Tarare (69), is attached after the judicial court of Lyon relinquished responsibility in favor of the TJ of Roanne. The offender's vehicle was seized.
The man, aged 35, was brought before the Roanne public prosecutor's office, which issued a committal warrant for the La Talaudière remand center. He will be judged in immediate appearance this Monday, December 23 at 2 p.m. before the TJ of Roanne.
