François Rebsamen, president of Dijon Métropole, was appointed minister of regional planning and decentralization within the Bayrou Government, this Monday, December 23, 2024.

François Rebsamen, president of Dijon Métropole, was chosen to become Minister of Territorial Planning and Decentralization.
National Secretary of the Socialist Party alongside François Hollande (1997-2008), President of the Socialist Group in the Senate (2011-2014), Minister of Labor (2014-2015), and President of the Federation of Socialist and Republican Elected Officials (2016- 2021); François Rebsamen recently created Fédération Progressiste, a center-left social-democrat groupready to participate in a coalition government as can be done elsewhere in Europe, notably in Germany and the Scandinavian countries.
Mayor of Dijon between 2001 and 2024, François Rebsamen expanded his municipal team to Modem in 2008a centrist party created by François Bayrou, and locally led by François Deseille, deputy mayor in charge of finances and the international city of gastronomy and wine.
His experience as a local elected official for more than 25 years, through achievements transforming Dijon into a European metropolis, such as the construction of tram networks and the pedestrianization of the city centerthe decarbonization and the energy transitionthe birth of the city of gastronomyet the arrival of the international organization of vine and winecould be an asset within the ministry of territorial planning and decentralization.
As a reminder, François Rebsamen had also been president of Cité United France, a network of local authorities engaged in international solidarity.
