A 23-year-old man was sentenced to one year in prison, including six months with immediate incarceration, Monday December 23, 2024 by the Criminal Court of Saint-Nazaire (-Atlantique).

The defendant was prosecuted for death threats against his loved ones and damage to the family apartment, the night of Saturday December 21 to Sunday December 22, 2024, rue Auguste Renoir in Trignac (Loire-Atlantique).

“The terms are light,” admitted the prosecutor, who speaks more readily of “unleashing violence”. As for housing, “we have the impression that there has been a storm”.

Apartment “completely turned around”

Around 1:50 a.m., the gendarmes discovered an apartment “completely turned upside down”: the television had a hole in it, “smashed” furniture on the floor, surrounded by a multitude of broken objects and trinkets.

The suspect was then holed up in the bathroom, claiming to be carrying a weapon, which turned out to be a crutch.

After spending part of the evening with neighbors, he began to lose his temper when his mother accused him of stealing €90.

Alcoholic and under the influence of narcotics, he made serious threats, “over and over again” against the latter, his father-in-law and his young sister, while carrying out his demolition business.

While we were trying to control him, he kicked a neighbor who was 5 months pregnant in the stomach while struggling.

“I risk losing my family”

Swollen face, consequences of this struggle, the defendant burst into tears during his trial in immediate appearance Monday December 23, 2024:

“I'm sorry, that's not what I wanted to do.” Since my placement in police custody, I realize that I risk losing my family. »

Her mother actually asked the court for a restraining order, in particular to protect her 15-year-old daughter.

Already convicted four times for threats and violence, the defendant is addicted to cannabis (“20 firecrackers a day”) and cocaine, despite the medical monitoring imposed by the courts.

“There are as many convictions as there are revocations of probationary sentences. He did not grab any hand that was extended to him,” regrets the prosecutor.

“It’s a change of life that he needs,” said his lawyer, Denis Lambert.

“He expressed the wish to go and live with showmen to work on assembly and dismantling. Why not try this experience, this support by a community? »

His probationary suspension is accompanied by an obligation to work upon his release from detention, and a ban on contact and appearing at his parents' home for two years.
