After joining their regional counterparts in Lyon at the start of the week, Haute-Loire taxis made themselves heard in Puy-en-Velay this Wednesday. They marched on Avenue André-Soulier at dawn in front of the premises of the Caisse Primaire d'Assurance Maladie, after regrouping at the edge of the Aiguilhe ring road, before going to the city center, the prefecture and the Emile-Roux hospital at midday.
250 taxis in Haute-Loire
During their demonstration in front of the three establishments, a delegation was received each time. “The exchanges were very good. We were listened to and we listened to our interlocutors, explains Eric Tavernier, president of the Haute-Loire taxi artisans union. They understand what is being demanded and are aware of the problem with social security. » Fifty to sixty of the two hundred and fifty taxi artisans from Haute-Loire participated in this movement.
A reduction in the price per km of 40 to 50%
For almost a year, the profession has been concerned about a new proposal for pricing medical transport with the objective of filling the deficit of 15 billion euros in the health branch of Social Security in 2024. “This represents a drop per km of 40 to 50%,” worries Eric Tavernier.

Monday and Tuesday, a large-scale demonstration drove taxis from the entire region to Lyon to block the surroundings of the city. Around fifty Altiligerians left at 3 a.m. before picking up their Loire colleagues in Sain-Etienne and disembarking in the Rhône at 5:30 a.m. We slept in our taxis on Place Bellecour, there were around fifteen of us from Haute -Loire to have stayed and around ten returned the next day to demonstrate,” specifies Eric Tavernier.
