Passed by AJ Auxerre between 2020 and 2022, Alec Georgen, trained at PSG, returns to the Stade Abbé-Deschamps on Sunday with Dunkerque during the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France.
After the various surprises involving several “little ones”, Friday and Saturday, it's time for the shocks of the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France, Sunday. Two matches will oppose two Ligue 1 clubs: Saint-Etienne will host Olympique de Marseille in the afternoon (kick-off at 2:45 p.m.) and, at the end of the evening, Paris-Saint-Germain will be away in Lens (9:00 p.m.). While Bordeaux, now among the amateurs, will challenge Rennes in a poster with the flavor of L1, we will also be treated to opposition that we could see in the elite next season. AJ Auxerre, 8th in L1, will host Dunkirk (2:45 p.m.), currently 3rd in Ligue 2.
Georgen: “It was difficult for me because I was still a little young”
The meeting will be the scene of a reunion between the AJA and Alec Georgen. Trained at PSG then moved to Avranches in National, the right side landed in Burgundy, a place which was to serve as a springboard. But the young player had played little, appearing only 12 times in 2 years… “I wanted to continue to progress in a very strong club like AJA. It was difficult for me because I was still a little young. That we had to impose ourselves. It was the first time I integrated into a professional group. Even though I didn't play much, I learned a lot. Both on and off the field. I came away from this experience very enriched,” recalls Georgen in L’Yonne Républicaine.
“I don’t regret my visit at all”
Now aged 26, Alec Georgen has matured and will not be driven by a feeling of revenge against the AJA. “No, because I don’t regret my visit at all. I learned a lot of things about myself that allowed me to toughen up and be where I am today.” The defender has a string of starts at Dunkirk (16 league matches, 1 assist) where everything is going well. “Really, everything is going well. I was lucky to go through the matches and not get injured. Today I am able to establish myself in a more structured team than Concarneau. I see that I have progressed since leaving the AJA. We can say that I am fully launching my career,” rejoices the former Parisian who had already found Abbé-Deschamps with Concarneau last season.
