“We are not here by chance” insists Kim-Jio Marc. At 24, the native of N'Kongsamba in Cameroon is part of revelations of this first part of the season at FC Marmande, Little Thumb of the Coupe de France who are playing this Sunday, December 22 in a historic 32nd final against Le Mans FC (kick-off at 5:30 p.m.).
Arrived this summer from FC Chamalières, a Nationale 2 club, this central midfielder who can also play on the side was replaced as a central hinge by Nicolas Flores. A profitable choice since it has established itself as the defense boss and Marmande has not conceded a goal in the league since October 5. A major asset, in addition to explosive attack, which could be one of the keys to considering the feat at the Georges-Dartiailh stadium.
Marmande: an extraordinary Coupe de France journey
If we were to compare the course of the FCM47 in the Coupe de France this season, it could be similar to a long quiet river punctuated by a emotional waterfall.
After successively eliminating Gensac (D1), Lanton (D1), Agen (R2), La Couronne (D1), Tarnos (R3) and Mourenx (R3), the Marmandais fell against FC Vierzon, Nationale 3 team in the 8th round (2-2, tab 3-5).
The disappointment was great after the elimination but it was without counting on a turnaround totally unexpected happening behind the scenes: Vierzon was disqualified from the competition by the FFF after a non-compliant medical certificate. Marmande who learned of his victory on the green carpet on Monday December 9, and consequently his draft for the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France.
Fast in attack, solid defensively
If the division gap seems a major challenge, Kim-Jio Marc believes in it more than ever: “ We're going to play our luck to the fullest against a great team. We are at home, in front of our audience. It's extra motivation to try to win this match.”
We want to write history. When you're an amateur footballer, you don't have the chance to experience that every day.
The main weapon of the FCM47 lies in its offensive duo explosive: Diallo et Ewelike. These two fast and technical attackers display great complementarity.
Their ability to go deep, eliminate one-on-one, and score is taking its toll this season. Marmande has the best attack of his group with 20 goals scored in 7 matches.
Behind, the midfielder displays notable qualities in recovery and distribution with Mayverick Compper, who passed through the Girondins. In the goals, the Marmandais can count onFather Tchagounithe “dad” of this team at the age of 34.
“We will have to be concentrated for 90 minutes, because the slightest mistake costs money at this level” warns Kim-Jio Marc.
