Thursday, December 12, a 55-year-old man, carpenter, was violently attacked in Antibes, BFM Nice Côte d'Azur learned from a police source, confirming information from Cnews. The events took place around 6 a.m., near the station.
On his way, he encountered three individuals who jostled him. After demanding an apology, he was gassed. He then tried to flee, but the attackers caught up with him at Avenue Jules Grec and beat him.
Despite his calls for help, the violence continued until the intervention of passers-by, who alerted the police. “I warmly thank these people (…) because he could have died from the blows,” explains his wife Stéphanie, speaking to Cnews. The attackers fled.
Six months off work
The victim suffered eight broken ribs and a depressed orbital floor. According to his wife to Cnews, he should have surgery soon. The emergency services prescribed six months of sick leave. Still under observation, the man should soon be transferred to a convalescent center.
The Grasse public prosecutor's office indicated this Sunday, December 22 to BFM Nice Côte d'Azur that the Antibes police station had contacted the victim's relatives. “The police went to the hospital to take the victim’s complaint. Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of the commission of the offense,” continues the prosecution.
