After the first gusts of wind this Saturday, December 21, 2024, gusts are expected this Sunday 22 in the Calvadoson the occasion of the passage of storm Enol in France. Winds from the northwest are expected to blow over Normandy, up to 120-130 km/h in the Channel and up to 110-120 km/h in Calvados. The department has also been placed on yellow alert by Météo France with violent winds for the whole of Sunday.
Stronger gusts in the afternoon
Calvados is also placed on yellow alert for thunderstorms from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. While the wind is expected to blow from this Sunday morning, with peaks expected at 85 km/h on the Côte de Nacre and 70 km/h in Caen, it is in the afternoon that the biggest gusts of wind are expected: around 120 km/h on the coast in particularaccording to the Calvados prefecture.
According to Météo France, the wind will lose intensity this Sunday evening, before falling completely from Monday afternoon. For this Sunday, “the wind could be locally accompanied by heavy showers rain,” adds the prefecture.
Two weeks ago, Normandy had already been hit by a storm called Darragh, with wind which had blown almost continuously for almost 36 hours.
