A tunnel under the Baïse and even a cable car were mentioned (with a smile) in the municipal council before the proposal of a footbridge to overlook the river upstream of the abbey. Tourists will follow the towpath in the footsteps of the bargemen (where in the past the oxen pulled the barges loaded with wheat and armagnac). On this Baïse trail, the walker will reach the town of Valence in the presence of the European kingfisher and dragonflies, lulled by the wind filtered by the glutinous alder or the weeping willow, without forgetting the black poplar.
A section of the Condom-Auch axis will be developed, as well as secure pedestrian access with the creation of green spaces connecting the town center to the abbey. This route follows the rejuvenation of Place Voltaire with its green parking lot of grassy strips nourished with perennial and perennial seeds, which draw water and prevent erosion. Rue de la Liberté will thus bear its name well, once again marking the link between a town in Occitania and an emblematic site.
The water supply and wastewater networks have been restored. As for rainwater, it is currently being developed. Traffic in the neighborhood will be readjusted and the surfaces renovated. The estimate is estimated at nearly €170,000 but the municipality is participating in the “Small Town of Tomorrow” scheme with the department, so it will receive a subsidy of €30,000.
Another subject discussed: the energy renovation of the accommodation establishment for dependent elderly people (Ehpad) which consumes far too much energy with its obsolete convectors. Ceilings, walls and floors will be thermally insulated (exterior and interior), double-flow VMC added to reversible air conditioning will be installed, plus LED lighting. Substantial work costing nearly €400,000 but for which the city will request a subsidy under the rural areas equipment grant (DETR) as part of the energy and ecological transition up to 30%, or approximately more of €110,000.
